Vintage clothing? I can't remember a time in my life without it!

I grew up in Brooklyn New York. My mother ran a small theater company. I spent many an afternoon sourcing vintage garments for costumes ‘on the cheap’ in church basements, thrift stores and costume shop warehouse sales, it’s safe to say I had an unconventional childhood.

New York City in the late 70s early 80s had a great and cheap abundance of vintage clothing, you couldn’t throw a rock without hitting a vintage shop. Racks upon racks of 1940s dresses, 1950s dresses as far as the eye could see, overflowing bins of pedal pushers or army/navy jackets. I loved mixing 30s and 40s crepe dresses with fishnets and leather, wearing beaded cardigans backwards, tailored tuxedo jackets, and anything Betsey Johnson were signature staples in my closet.

I started Carla and Carla Vintage to offer my rich history in fashion to people who dress with an edge and maybe live life on the edge, too.

We stock iconic unique vintage garments worth cherishing for life alongside designers like Betsey Johnson, Thierry Mugler, Norma Kamali, and Halston. Garments are carefully inspected for quality, craftsmanship and unique characteristics. Pieces are professionally dry cleaned and always ready-to-wear upon receiving. When necessary, items are archival-restored with care and attention in our at-home studios in New York City. All garments are curated from the depths of well-lived wardrobes and exclusive estate sales.
